Judy, I prune mine after they've bloomed to remove the seed heads to prevent self-sowing. I think yours should have bloomed by now! Are they getting enough sun or are they newly planted? I wouldn't prune them if they haven't bloomed and their are no seedheads. (And I Iooked up that 'Butterscotch' variety. THat is going to be incredible in the fall!
I think it just needs a bit more time to settle in, and you'll see blooms next year. Remember the old saying with perennials... 1st year sleep, 2nd year creep, and 3rd year leap!

Carol, I’m growing Amsonia Butterscotch in zone 8a Texas. I didn’t see any blooms and plant looks very healthy. Do I need to prune it?

Planted last fall. Yes it is a lovely plant. It’s in plenty of sun but we’ve had a very cool season so far. Raining today and high of 80 degrees! lol.
